Have you heard about Fybe yet? It’s a brand new online marketplace for one-stop shopping from your favorite artists, it’s built with policies that are actually artist-friendly (generative ai is BANNED, but that’s just the start!), and it’s launching TODAY!! Hop on over and check it out!

theo darling on fybe.

More reasons to get excited about Fybe:

— Fybe is a platform built by a small team of artists with progressive values and plans for profit-sharing, not just with investors but with artist vendors!
— Fybe makes it easy for you to actually find what you search for! No pay-to-play algorithm games that give some items preference over others. If it fits your search term, Fybe will show it to you.
— No dropshipping allowed. Everything on Fybe is handmade or designed by independent artists!
— Low platform fees with a free-forever ($0 monthly subscription) option. I think this is great because it opens the door to even more small artists to join! More artists = more cool art = more people looking for cool art here 🙂

Catch me on Fybe with a selection of my work, and don’t forget to check out the other vendors, or even apply to be a vendor yourself 🙂 You can always find a full catalog of my available work right here, and you can sign up for my email newsletter here to keep up with all my studio news!

Coinciding with a change in leadership, the nonprofit that organizes my local First Friday art events has informed me that they are no longer using generative ai in their promotional materials. With this in mind,  I am currently planning to table at the First Friday Art Night on August 7, not as a member of the arts council but as an independent community member. At this time, I do not have any plans for my artwork to be featured again in the affiliated Machias Arts Center gallery, but am moving ahead with some very exciting alternative options I hope to say more about soon!

You can find my previous announcement about my withdrawal from First Friday Art Nights here, or sign up for my email newsletter here to get important calendar updates!

Just a note that I have ended my professional relationship with the Machias Arts Council due to philosophical differences regarding the organization’s persistent use of generative ai. This means that my work will no longer be available for sale in the Machias Arts Center gallery. I have also withdrawn from this year’s First Friday Art Night events, which are hosted by the Machias Arts Council. I continue to wish all artists involved well, and am actively pursuing other opportunities that feel more closely aligned with my values!

two holiday card designs

I’m launching a new line of greeting cards and other paper goods! I’ll be releasing new stuff on a rolling basis, and I’m kicking it off with these two cut+paste collage designs for the holidays inspired by weird Victorian Christmas cards (iykyk!!).

These are locally printed, packaged plastic-free, and come with a handmade envelope made from vintage maps or other interesting papers. Blank inside. Available now!

Got a holiday or other occasion you’d like me to design a card for? Send me an email and let me know!

Big thanks to everyone who came out to support the new Machias Arts Center at its grand opening/First Friday Art Walk kickoff!! We had a great turnout, it felt like people were really excited about this new community resource. If you missed it, I’ll be back out here all summer on First Fridays with fellow local artists, and the Arts Center is now open 4 days a week so come check it out……!

Just got back from the soft opening (members only!) of the brand new Machias Arts Center — I am blown away by the variety and quality of the artwork being made in this region, and I’m so excited to be able to participate in this wonderfully diverse inaugural group exhibition! Officially open to the public this Friday, June 6 — be there or be square 🙂 In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek of the work I’m showing here this month…
