SHOP POLICIES

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

At this time I accept major credit/debit cards (including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover). I can also accept cash for local purchases. Sales tax is calculated automatically at checkout.

WHEN AND HOW WILL MY ORDER SHIP?

Orders typically ship within 3 business days of payment processing. All orders ship with a tracking number, and all items with the exception of paper goods ship insured.

I do my best to ship as economically as possible while packing well to ensure safe delivery. I combine shipping where possible to keep your fees low, but certain orders containing multiple ceramic pieces are unable to be combined. This is sometimes necessary to reduce risk of in-transit damage to breakable pieces. In these cases, your order will arrive in separate shipments.

Whenever I can, I reuse packaging materials to reduce waste and save you money. Read more about my efforts toward environmental sustainability here.

CAN I PLACE AN INTERNATIONAL ORDER?

International orders are currently paused while I try to figure out the changing tariff situation. However, you are welcome to contact me to let me know of your interest and I may be able to work out a solution on a case-by-case basis. Any tariffs or additional fees levied after an order has shipped are out of my control and the buyer is solely responsible for paying them.

WHAT KINDS OF ITEMS CAN YOU MEND FOR ME?

✔️ I’M HAPPY TO REPAIR MANY TYPES OF ITEMS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • items where the mend can be a feature, or subtle (not invisible) repairs
  • clothing (sweaters, t-shirts, jeans, and more)
  • soft toys
  • linens and quilts*
  • ??? If you have something else in need of repair, let’s talk!

Please note that I am very optimistic about the possibility of even severely damaged items being repaired! If you are not sure whether an item of yours is salvageable, let’s discuss!

*I am able to accept some quilt repair projects but am not a textile conservator; for fragile or valuable antiques I recommend seeking out a professional trained in preserving historical textiles.

ARE THERE ANY MENDING PROJECTS YOU DON’T ACCEPT?

❌ SORRY, I CAN’T TAKE ON THESE PROJECTS:

BACK TO CONTENTS

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Every mending project is different. The nature and extent of the damage, the type of fabric, the materials required, and the techniques or designs requested are all factors in how long a repair will take to complete. Due to the unique nature of each item, prices are quoted individually. At your free consultation we’ll discuss a range of options to fit different budgets, and you can choose what best meets your needs. I’m also happy to create a payment plan upon request. Unless we agree otherwise, a deposit of 50% is due when I take your items home to mend, and the balance is due upon completion.

CAN I SUPPLY MY OWN MATERIALS?

Yes! If you would like to supply your own materials, please let me know during your free consultation and we can discuss what will be needed, as different repair methods call for different materials. Some supplies are available locally at Wooleez of Maine and Machias River General in downtown Machias. If you choose to supply some or all of your own materials, the total cost for your mending project will be reduced accordingly.

CAN YOU MEND BY MAIL FOR ME?

Yes! Shipping is available by request. If you don’t live in the Machias, ME area, your free consultation can take place over email or text message.

HOW SOON WILL MY ITEM BE READY?

Please allow 2-4 weeks for most items to be mended, unless we come to another agreement in our consultation. If an item is so extensively damaged that it turns out the repair will take longer than I originally thought, I will contact you and let you know. If additional materials are needed that I can’t obtain locally, there may be an additional delay while I order these supplies.

WHAT IF I NEED IT MENDED FASTER?

I am able to take on a limited number of rush jobs at my discretion. There is an additional fee of $35 or 35%, whichever is greater, if the turnaround is needed within 2 weeks.

BACK TO CONTENTS

WHY DO I NEED TO BOOK A CONSULTATION?

In order to make sure we are both on the same page about the repairs needed, the turnaround time necessary, and costs involved, we will need to discuss each item you’d like me to repair. We can compare different options for how the repair(s) might look, color/design preferences, and any special design requests. Together we will make a plan for how the item(s) should be mended, and I will provide an estimate of the cost to repair each item. In order to plan as accurately as possible, I will need to see images of each item that show the details of each damaged area.

WHAT IF MY ITEM CONTAINS MOTH EGGS OR OTHER INSECT PARTS?

Before I can repair any item with insect damage, the insects must be eradicated and the garments thoroughly cleaned.
