No part of my process — from developing my concepts and sketches, finalizing my designs, and writing about my work, to operating my website, fulfilling shop orders and beyond — involves the use of generative ai in any capacity, or ever will. I am ideologically opposed to generative ai and joyfully resist its corporate encroachment in all areas of my life, and I hope you’ll join me!

There are so many reasons to be anti-ai, and new reasons seem to arise every day. I see this technology being forced on citizens and marginalized groups against our will; it steals our data, poisons our ecosystems, and empowers oppressive governments. It’s already being shown to have devastating effects on cognition and emotional wellbeing. I believe it shrinks our future possibility, individually and collectively.

As an artist, respecting the work of my fellow artists and the planet that supports us is vital and existential. I value the human hand and the human mind over perceived optimization, and on a very personal level, I have only contempt for any technology that aims to reassign the cognitive and imaginative capabilities of human beings to machines and algorithms, and the stubbornest affection for the materiality that makes being alive so weird and meaningful. “Artificial intelligence”? No thanks, I have a real brain! 🙂
