Porcelain, underglaze, clear glaze — fired to cone 10
This family of seven porcelain cups is underglazed inside and out to represent the tea leaves accumulated during a tasseological ritual. Each cup has been designed with a different member of my own family in mind, portraying their lives and fortunes — if you know how to read the signs. The symbols used inside the cups interpret aspects of these people as I know them, filtered through my experiences and interactions with them — not necessarily as they would describe themselves — illustrating the aspects of their personalities most prominent in my memories and perceptions.
