Porcelain, underglaze, clear glaze — fired to cone 6
Dazzle is informed by the short-lived experimental military camouflage technique known as “razzle dazzle” or “dazzle camouflage,” in which ships were painted with the intent not to hide but to bewilder. Each piece in this ongoing body of work is uniquely patterned with handpainted underglaze, utility of form meeting jubilant nonconformity of surface treatment — a militant queerness rejecting invisibility in favor of unapologetic incomprehensibility.
